Moving forward, with purpose: notes from December 29, 2020

Some notes to let you all know that music research and development is continuing, despite the current public health emergency, and relentless gloom-and-doom reports as to the alleged state of the music "industry".

Attitude: as a practicing musician, you make it work. You never allow others to determine your artistic outcomes in this complex field.

Ongoing studies of works by Isaac AlbĂ©niz are extremely useful, yielding insights as to avenues for further exploration.

I've recently collaborated with the Bay Area bassist / conductor Carl Herder on this remote project for small orchestra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X055o5PtOF8&feature=youtu.be, and there may be more of these ahead.

I'm on standby for a possible New York debut of the "Sanctuary" session on terrestrial radio there; a broadcast first.   Also, there's an essay pending at Jazz Tokyo https://jazztokyo.org/ that will likely be published early next year.  Will keep you posted.

All good wishes for 2021,

James
